Some can fly very far and some drop like a rock, some need to be charged up to move, and some can't turn without first stopping. Not unlike other racing games, The machines kirby races on vary in many factors such as acceleration, turning properties, and top speed. You also can use the C-Stick to control the camera. L,R, and A, which all perform the same function, either sucks up enemies, slow the machine while turning, and/or stops the machine depending on how long you hold it down. You use left/right on the control stick/D-pad to steer the machine and you use up/down to control kirby's altitude when flying. The main controls are just the Control stick/ D-Pad and the L,R, or A buttons. In this mode, you control kirby with a third person view from behind kirby himself.

This mode is based upon racing machines through 9 different courses upon a variety of machines, many of which are from previous kirby games. Air ride is the mode most similar to a traditional Racing game.
